Christmas comes early in Apex, and it all centers around historic downtown Salem Street.

On Friday the festivities kick off at 5:30 p.m. with the lighting of the Christmas tree in front of the old depot. Santa Claus arrives soon after and, from 6 to 9 p.m., horse-drawn carriages and sleigh rides will be available for jolly jaunts.

On Saturday, the Apex Rotary Club will sponsor a pancake breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m. at the fire station.

Santa will make a repeat appearance for photos from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Apex Christmas Parade will start at 5 p.m., snaking a route that runs from the intersection of N. Salem Street and the Apex Peakway to the intersection of W. Williams Street and the Apex Peakway. Parts of Salem Street and Apex Peakway will be closed from 3 to 8 p.m.
