A Zebulon man faces charges involving the theft of three pairs of athletic shoes. Witnesses said they saw a van pull into the driveway of a home on Lantern Ridge Lane at about 3:30 p.m. Sept. 18 and a suspect got out, entered the garage and returned to the van with three pairs of shoes. Another witness recognized the van as belonging to a flooring company. After the van was traced to the flooring company, Jeremy Brooks Garrett, 24, 623 Glyde Pearce Road, Zebulon, admitted his involvement as the driver and said that he had decided to take the shoes on a whim. Garrett said that he sent in a second suspect to take the shoes. Garrett was charged with felony burglary and felony larceny.
A purse containing two credit cards and a drivers license was reported taken from an unlocked vehicle at Tortilla Blue, 404 W. Chatham St., between noon and 1:30 p.m. Sept. 18.
A camera was reported taken from a garage on Almaden Way between 2 and 4 p.m. Sept. 17. The garage door had been left open.
Someone pried open the passenger-side front door of a vehicle on Gooseneck Drive between 9 p.m. Sept. 17 and 8 a.m. Sept. 18 and took a car stereo.
Someone kicked in the door of a home under construction on Franklin Hills Point between Sept. 8 and Sept. 18 and took a garbage disposal, laundry set tub and toilet base.
Six cars on Carolyn Court had items taken from them between 8 p.m. Sept. 17 and 5:55 a.m. Sept. 18. Four of them had windows smashed out and two others were unlocked. Things taken include $150 in loose change, two flashlights, two wallets, three credit cards and a laptop.
Someone broke the rear passenger door window of a vehicle on Northington Place between 5 p.m. Sept. 17 and 6:50 a.m. Sept. 18 and took a stereo.
A white 2004 Dodge Ram pickup bearing North Carolina license TVJ 9125 was reported stolen between 12:30 and 4:30 a.m. Sept. 17. Items in the vehicle when it was taken included an access badge, miscellaneous tools, a laptop and access keys valued at $40,000. The victim said the vehicle was locked and he has the only set of keys.
A Cary woman reported that she was notified of fraudulent charges on her credit card of about $200 to True.com, a singles Web site, between June 1 and Sept. 17. The woman said she did not notice the charges until they began to accrue and that she had never signed up for or authorized the service.
A weed eater, hedge trimmer and blower were reported from a tool shed on Holt Road. The victim reported Sept. 17 that it had been about two weeks since he had been in the shed and that the lock was missing.
A Cary man reported that he wrote a check for $1,200 to his son in February and that his son had paid him back but stopped payment on that check and then said he did not plan to pay his father back.
Two men are believed to have taken 18 rings valued at nearly $9,900 from K-Mart, 960 Kildaire Farm Road, between 5 and 7 p.m. Sept. 18. The first suspect is described as a 25-to-30 -year-old black male, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall, weighing 150 to 160 pounds, with shoulder-length black dreadlocks, brown eyes, a dark complexion and average build wearing a black shirt and baggy black pants. The second suspect is described as a 25- to-30-year-old black male, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches weighing 165 to 170 pounds, with sculpted black hair, brown eyes, and a dark complexion wearing a white cap, white T-shirt and blue jeans. The pair left in a red Dodge Neon.
Cary Police have recently charged the following with driving while impaired: Justin Kirk Higgins, 29, of 6904 Weirton Place, Charlotte, charged at 1000 E. Chatham St. at about 1:50 a.m. Sept. 17.
