• A fly rod and reel were reported taken from a vehicle on Bald Eagle Lane between Nov. 10 and Aug. 8. More than likely a key was used to enter the vehicle.

• A storage shed on Old Apex Road was entered between 8:55 and 9:10 a.m. Aug. 9. A weed eater, leaf blower and chain saw were reported taken. A witness reported seeing two suspects. The first was a black male, 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 175 to 185 pounds with a light brown complexion and a medium build. The second was described at 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 165 to 175 pounds with a light brown complexion and a medium build. The witness said the suspects carried the equipment and put it in a Mazda 323.

• An Apex woman reported that she had lost her check card and several ATM withdrawals were made totalling $315 between 7:30 p.m. Aug. 4 and 3 a.m. Aug. 5. She did not know how her PIN number was stolen.

• A cell phone was reported taken from an unlocked car on Bancroft Brook Drive between 1:56 and 2:55 p.m. Aug. 8.

• A wallet with two credit cards, 100 CDs, an electric razor and a CD carrying case were reported taken from an unlocked vehicle on Kirkfield Drive between 5 p.m. Aug. 7 and 8:59 a.m. Aug. 8.

• Someone pried the side window of a vehicle and pulled open the window of another at the Best Western, 1722 Walnut St., between 7 p.m. Aug. 12 and 3:30 a.m. Aug. 13. It did not appear that any property was taken.

• A Cary man received a call July 29 from the credit department of Home Depot reporting that someone using a similar name and his address was trying to open credit accounts. Over the next two days the man received similar calls from Lowe’s Home Improvement, Macy’s, Wal-Mart and Music & Art Center of similar activity. Best Buy and J.C. Penney reported to the man that they denied the use of credit cards under similar circumstances.

• A Raleigh man faces charges involving two stolen motor vehicles. Bobby Earl Carlton, 36, of 424 Bashford Road, Raleigh, was charged at about 2 a.m. Aug. 13 near U.S. Highway 1 and Interstate Highway 40 with possession of two stolen vehicles and resist, obstruct and delay. A broadcast was put out from Raleigh early that morning that a trailer had been stolen and was heading out Buck Jones Road toward Cary. An officer spotted a pickup truck pulling a white box trailer followed by a Ford Explorer pulling a trailer with a Honda motorcycle on it. At the intersection of Buck Jones, U.S. 1 and Walnut St. the first vehicle turned right and the second left. The officer followed the second vehicle and stopped it behind Toys ‘R’ Us in Crossroads Plaza. The suspect said he did not know who the owners of the Explorer or motorcycle were. The Explorer was determined to have been stolen from Fayetteville. Raleigh police later learned that the motorcycle had been stolen as well.
