Last year the Men’s Golf Association (MGA) at Devils Ridge Golf Club recognized that at least 75 percent of prostate cancer deaths in men are preventable with increased awareness, early detection and “best practices” treatment. The MGA joined the fight against prostate cancer in 2005 by hosting a Charity Golf Classic at Devils Ridge in Holly Springs, which raised $22,000 for the Prostate Cancer Coalition of N.C. (PCCNC).

The second annual Devils Ridge Charity Golf Classic to fight Prostate Cancer will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27. According to the American Cancer Society, in N.C. alone over 6,800 new cases will be diagnosed and approximately 900 men will die of prostate cancer this year. Yet today only about 40 percent of men take the necessary screening tests. Therefore, the MGA has again chosen PCCNC to be the beneficiary of this tournament. The MGA is currently seeking sponsors for this event. They are pleased to announce that Cancer Centers of North Carolina (CCNC) has again agreed to be the primary sponsor.

The $85 entry fee will entitle the participant to a continental breakfast, range balls, golf, cart, gift bag, beverages, lunch and entry into three hole-in-one contests that include winning a new Cadillac. Individual, couple and foursome registrations will be accepted. Women golfers are welcome.
