We asked for photos, and several up-and-coming photographers delivered — very nicely, we might add. The photos displayed in the photo gallery represent the winners in each category of our “How I see it: Spring Daze from a Youth Perspective” photography contest plus other notable entries.

The winners are:

Cool Performances
Meg Malone, 11, of Apex, captured lots of effort and emotion in her picture of two performers demonstrating their skill with swords.

Arts & the Artisans
Gary Meyer, 17, of Cary, gave us a fresh perspective in his vibrant image of earrings for sale.

Good Eats
Joshua Petty, 6, took a picture of a friendly smoothie vendor.

Earth Day
In one image, Lauren Dinsmore, 5, was able to tell a story of a hot day, tired feet and a confused ladybug.

The four winners will receive Spring Daze T-shirts. Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all of the youngsters who submitted photos.
